Soap Operas for Social Change – Premiere Screening Fri 5/16
UCLA Fielding School of Public Health
Dear UCLA community,
Working intensively since the start of Spring quarter, an eclectic team of undergrad and grad students, expert mentors from PCI Media Impact, and artist-producers from the UCLA Art & Global Health Center have created, scripted, cast, shot and edited a mini-serial drama dealing with urgent sexual health issues on the UCLA campus. With support from the UCLA Healthy Campus Initiative and professional film production assistance from Cut&Cue, we have created a high-quality and (hopefully!) impactful media product that we are proud to share with the UCLA community.
The UCLA Art and Global Health Center, PCI Media Impact, and the World Arts & Cultures 174B class invite you to attend the premiere screening of our Soap Opera for Social Change:
The [WHAT] We Want
12:00PM, Friday, May 16
Room 200, Kaufman Hall
1:00PM Reception, Kaufman 230
Join us for a viewing of four 6-minute episodes that unfold a charged drama about parties, peer-pressure, sexual health communication, and consent. The videos will be followed by discussion concerning sexual health / consent / on-campus resources, and how to best roll out this engaging digital resource on campus.
Who should attend? Representatives from student services organizations focused on relationships, sexual health, and consent; Greek life staff and students; staff of the Office of Residential Life and the First-Year Experience; and any students, sexually active or not.
Please RSVP with Elisabeth Nails by Wednesday, May 14.
