Job Vacancy for Administrative Coordinator
UC Global Health Institute’s Center of Expertise on Women’s Health & Empowerment
10 hours per week @ $22.50 per hour
February 17, 2015, through June 30, 2015 (and possibly longer)
The University of California Global Health Institute’s Center of Expertise on Women’s Health & Empowerment (COE) is seeking a part-time Administrative Coordinator, under the direction of the two Co-directors: Drs. Paula Tavrow (UCLA) and
Craig Cohen (UCSF).
The Coordinator will support the Co-directors to plan and implement COE activities. Through innovative research, education and international collaboration, the COE strengthens the capacity of the next generation of leaders and researchers
in women’s health and empowerment. The core activities focus on assuring safe motherhood, reducing violence against women, improving access to family planning and reproductive technologies, advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights, and preventing
HIV/AIDS. The COE has faculty, staff and student affiliates from eight UC campuses and an active listserv.
The COE Coordinator will report directly to the Co-directors on a weekly basis. Specifically, s/he will coordinate communication of COE members on various UC campuses, assist with planning and implementing of COE meetings/seminars, assist
with planning of the COE’s Summer Institute, provide support to COE research, knowledge dissemination and education committees, and help prepare COE presentation materials.
Specific duties include:
Coordinate communication, teleconferences with COE members, etc.
Take minutes of COE leadership and committee meetings
Assist committee co-chairs to plan and implement activities, as needed
Plan meetings, conferences and retreats
Help to plan and implement COE WHE Summer Institute
Help identify grant opportunities and prepare grant proposals
Prepare presentation materials and newsletter
Liaise with UCGHI program administration
Who is eligible:
Currently enrolled graduate students at UCLA or recent graduates with advanced degree
Prior administrative experience
Demonstrated interest in women’s health and/or women’s empowerment
Previous global experience is a plus (not required)
