Job Opening: Director of Research and Evaluation at SFP in Philadelphia

The SFP Research Fund seeks to hire a PhD or equivalent with research experience in family planning, including abortion and/or contraception.   The Director of Research & Evaluation will report to the Executive
Director and will serve as a senior staff member.  2016 marks our 10th year releasing competitive request for proposals for research and career development awards, and this staff member will be instrumental in leading our efforts to measure the
impact of funded studies, as well as to assist in meeting our mission to promote scientifically sound research, to develop evidence-based guidelines, to inform public policy and practice, and to mentor members in research, leadership skills, and career development.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and manage the evaluation of current and previously funded research grants

Synthesize research results from funded studies

Author white papers on evidence by topic area and write journal editorials on similar topics

Support the Scientific Committee’s work in developing clinical guidelines and a new process for the same

Collaborate with external colleagues working on advocacy related to policy, programs, or practice

Provide technical assistance to members

Develop content ideas for the annual meeting

 

Qualifications

PhD, DrPh, or similar degree

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in family planning/reproductive health research

At least three publications in peer reviewed journals, two as first author

Demonstrated experience with research or programmatic evaluation

Excellent written and verbal skills

Ability to work remotely as well as part of a team

Ability to travel periodically

 

The SFP Research Fund office is in Philadelphia, yet we are open to candidates who wish to telecommute as long as the candidate can easily travel to the office.  The SFP Research Fund plans to offer salary
