Scholarship fund at UCLA Fielding School of Public Health in memory of Shonali Choudhury

Dear all,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Shonali Choudhury passed away on November 14, 2014, from complications of a brain tumor, at age 34. She received her doctorate in Community Health Sciences
from UCLA and was a remarkable Special Reader to many CHS students.  At the time of her death, she was at home in Miami, and a dear friend was playing the violin for her. She was not in pain.

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health has created a scholarship in Shonali’s honor.  It seemed like a fitting way to celebrate Shonali’s love of public health and her time here at UCLA. It is called  “The
Shonali M. Choudhury Scholarship fund” and will support CHS graduate students.

For those interested, please make the check out to
UCLA Foundation and in the memo line add “S. Choudhury fund”
and we will know to deposit it in the correct fund.  Mail it to:

There should soon be a web link as well on the FSPH webpage.

Thank you for your support of this scholarship fund.

Best wishes,
