Opportunities to get involved with RHIG Events/Leadership

Hello Everyone,

We have a variety of exciting opportunities to get involved with RHIG related activities that we’re excited to
share with you. Please see below for details. Thank you to all of you who made it out to our Vessel film screening/fundraiser last night, it was a huge success!

The Students for Reproductive Justice Chapter of the UCLA School of Law are participating in this year’s
National Abortion Access Bowl-A-Thon, and they’ve encouraged RHIG to form a team and raise more money than them.

If you haven’t heard about this event before, here’s a brief overview: every spring, the National Network of Abortion Funds hosts these bowl-a-thons across the country. These bowl-a-thons
consist of a fundraising period and culminate in a big bowling celebration, complete with costumes, pizza, and beer (for those of age, of course). The organization that is sponsoring the Los Angeles bowl-a-thon (and will be receiving the fundraising proceeds)
is ACCESS Women’s Health Justice, a nonprofit that
works to ensure California low-income women are informed and supported to make the right reproductive choice through direct services, advocacy and community education

We would like to know if: any RHIG members are interested in being on a RHIG team and/or
interested in nominating themselves as team captain(s) to bottom-line RHIG participation in the Bowl-A-Thon (ideally we would have a couple)

If you’re interested in either,
please email us
back and indicate if you’re either interested in being on a RHIG team or
being one of the team captains

Public Health Week

RHIG is partnering with Students of
Color for Public Health to participate in activities for National Public Health Week on campus. We’re going to table near Bruin Plaza and have a
sexual & reproductive health trivia wheel that students can spin to get prizes and learn about ways to get involved with RHIG. We will be tabling on
Wednesday April 8th from 12-2 PM and are looking for RHIG members who are
interested in helping create the trivia wheel
(we already have a wheel, we just need to develop trivia questions and answers) and
table the event. Marisol, one of the co-chairs of the RHIG Education Sub-Committee will be coordinating the event. If interested,
please contact her at: mdstorres1@yahoo.com.

RHIG Leadership

We have a variety of open positions available in
RHIG leadership, and will be soliciting self-nominations in the Spring and Fall but would like to start getting the word out. RHIG leadership is
open to students in any field at UCLA, and provides an exciting opportunity to
develop leadership skills, work directly on reproductive health/justice issues you care aboutbuild community
and professional development.

Positions available include: Social Media Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Advocacy Chair or Co-Chairs. We’re working on positions descriptions, and will have more information in the Spring and Fall quarter.
