Updates on the UC-Dignity Health partnership and next steps

Message from ACLU’s Amanda Young concerning the proposed merger of UCSF health and Dignity Health (a Catholic health provider which does not provide important RH and LGBT health services):

Thank you so much for rallying and attending the UC Health Services Committee meeting a few weeks ago- especially to those of you who gave public comment, all of you were critical in telling the UC regents to stop the Dignity Health partnership! During the open session, many of the regents specifically asked UCSF to address student concerns raised in public comment, demonstrating the power of our collective voices! While the regents are still in the process of making a decision, it’s important to keep up the pressure on them to oppose the partnership.

Even if you were not able to attend the rally, we still included you on this message to be as inclusive as possible! And we have some important next steps to keep up the momentum:

  • Save the date for June 11 for the Health Services Committee meeting at Luskin Conference Center, UCLA: we predict that the vote will come up on this date so it’s critical to have a massive turnout!
  • Sign the petition here: http://bit.ly/UCDignityPetition
  • If you’re a UC student- sign the student sign-on letter here: http://bit.ly/UCStudentsLetter
  • Sign up to be updated on this campaign and other religious refusals campaigns: http://bit.ly/RefusalsSignUp

Please feel free to reach out with any questions and I’ll be in touch about our next action!
