UC President Napolitano supports medication abortion in UCs

Dear Colleagues and Allies,

Thanks to your signatures and support, UC President Napolitano came out in support of providing medication abortion at UC campus health centers “as soon as possible.”  (See attached letter.)  UCOP’s support is important as the bill goes to the Assembly floor for a full vote and then to the Governor’s desk in the next few weeks.

SB 24 (Leyva), the College Student Right to Access Act, would require public university student health centers to provide medication abortion.

Offering early abortion services on campus is practical, efficacious, safe, cost-effective, and of critical benefit to students facing barriers to access because of time, money, and distance.

For students, it is not too late to sign this petition to show your support:  http://justcarecalifornia.org/petition/
