Meet Emily Abrahams, Treasurer and Events Coordinator of the Reproductive Health Interest Group

Emily grew up in Northern California in the mountainous area of Lake Tahoe. She received a B.A. from California State University, Monterey Bay majoring in Public Health and Social Work and minoring in Spanish Language and Culture. She came back to her home community to serve in Americorps as a family advocate focusing on preventing child abuse by strengthening families. After, she took her commitment to social justice abroad while she served in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua as a community development and health volunteer. Here she worked in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, maternal-infant health and HIV prevention and mitigation. This increased her knowledge and commitment to sexual and reproductive health and advocacy. She is now pursuing a Master’s in Public Health in the area of Community Health Sciences and is on the RHIG team as the Treasurer and Events Coordinator. When she is not advocating for reproductive health you can find her out in nature, cooking yummy meals or getting active.
