Since 2001, the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health Bixby Center has built a strong pipeline of sexual and reproductive health professionals—contributing to ground-breaking research, real-world policy impact, direct care, and community-based solutions that advance domestic and global reproductive health and justice.
Our Mission
The UCLA Bixby Center to Advance Sexual and Reproductive Health Equity is a transdisciplinary consortium of faculty, staff, students, alumni, policymakers, and community members that catalyzes change through education, training, collaboration, innovative research and practice to achieve optimal sexual and reproductive health for all.
Applied Experience (APEx)
The Applied Practice Experience (APEx) gives UCLA Fielding students the opportunity to apply their academic training to real-world public health challenges through hands-on work with community organizations, government agencies, and global partners. These experiences not only prepare students for impactful public health careers but also benefit the communities they serve—advancing health equity and strengthening public health systems locally and globally. APEx is a required, supervised field placement in which MPH students complete at least 100 hours of practice-based work that demonstrates competency in key areas of public health.
Global Impact: Since 2002 FSPH students have completed over 170 APEx related to Sexual and Reproductive Health in 29 countries.
