Student: Brittany Judd
Internship Year:

My main activities consisted of conducting a literature review, creating qualitative and quantitative survey instruments for a community-based diagnostic study, and analyzing the availability and applicability of community initiatives related to nutrition and physical activity. In order to create survey instruments, I conducted a thorough review of the literature, with a special focus on previously validated instruments in the field of community nutrition. I participated in the application of qualitative interview tools with various populations: senior citizens (in a focus group setting), nutritionists and Directors of Health Promotion at public health clinics, and public school principals and health liaisons. I also participated in the coding of qualitative interview results, making it possible for the outcomes of our focus groups to be expressed quantitatively.
