Internship Year:

My main task while in Mozambique was to update a document called “The Status of Women in Mozambique,” which was to be used by the USAID mission to determine funding and programming decisions for the 2011 fiscal year. The document included information on how women’s inequality in education, industrial and social settings all contributed to an escalating HIV incidence rate in women. My secondary activity while in Mozambique was to organize and implement a conference between numerous government ministries as well as NGOs and the private sector to discuss future steps for implementation of women’s equality across sectors. This conference was attended by over 80 participants and helped the government design a road map for the future of improving women’s rights.
